2019 saw many new launches of smartphones in the mid-range segment. This range saw many new features in the smartphones which we saw in the premium flagship range. In the month of December, Realme came up with the Realme X2 which has very good specifications under Rs.20000. The smartphone has a Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and the build of the device is also good as it sports a glass body both at the front as well as back. It sports a 6.41 inches full HD+ AMOLED display which is a full screen with no notch. The front camera is a pop-up module that raises when switching the front camera or during face unlock.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 6.55 inches full HD+ IPS LCD display. The fingerprint scanner is placed at the back. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by the Mediatek Helio G90T which is a gaming-centric chipset.
This chipset outscores the Snapdragon 730 and 730G in terms of gaming and performance. Coming to cameras, there are quad cameras that have the 64MP main camera (Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor) with 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth camera for portraits. The device has a 6.4 inches Super AMOLED screen with a dewdrop notch on the top. it runs on Snapdragon 712 which is a good mid-range chipset and can run heavy games easily. The device runs ColorOS based on Android 9 Pie and will be soon upgraded to Android 10 with the Realme UI. There is an optical in-display fingerprint scanner that is accurate and fast. There are four cameras: 64MP main camera + 8MP ultrawide + 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. This is the same setup found on the Realme X2. The photos come out to be good with vibrant colors and take good videos.
The price starts at Rs.15999 with 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM variants with 64/128GB storage all having UFS 2.1 storage. Overall if you want a good display, a good set of cameras with good performance, and gaming, the Realme XT can be a good buy.
5. Samsung Galaxy M30s :
Samsung had the Galaxy M30 in the market which was a very good smartphone having a good display, decent chipset, and a good set of cameras. Later Samsung came up with the M30s which improved its predecesor with a larger 6000mAh battery, newer chipset, and a new set of cameras. The Galaxy M30s comes with a Super AMOLED display with a back-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device runs on Exynos 9611 which is good for day-to-day tasks and decent when it comes to playing heavy games. On the back, you get three cameras: 48MP main camera + 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP depth sensor. The photos taken have good color reproduction and great details.

Recently Vivo launched the S1 Pro with only a single variant that is 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. The Vivo S1 Pro comes with a glass front and back. It sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 which is a mid-range chipset. Considering the price at which it is offered, the chipset falls a bit short as manufacturers like Realme and Xiaomi are offering Snapdragon 730 chipset which the most powerful in a smartphone under Rs.20000.
The device runs on FuntouchOS 9.2 built on top of Android 9 Pie. However with day to day use, you won’t notice any lag but playing heavy games like PUBG, Asphalt will run just fine. The device has a SuperAMOLED display on the front and the build feels premium. On the back, you get four cameras: 48MP main camera + 8MP ultrawide + 2MP depth and a macro camera. The photos have rich vibrant colors but in terms of the video, you are only restricted to 4k @ 30fps.
The device has an in-display fingerprint scanner which Vivo says is of the third generation and is very fast. So at Rs.19999 if you want a good smartphone with a good set of cameras and decent performance, Vivo S1 Pro can be one of them.
7. Vivo Z1x:
Vivo launched the Z1 Pro in the market which had good specifications and later Vivo Z1x came and bought many upgrades over the Vivo Z1 Pro. The device has a 6.4inches Super AMOLED full HD+ display and has an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device runs on FuntouchOS 9.2. It is powered by a Snapdragon 712 chipset which provides good performance and gaming. Coming to cameras, there are three cameras: 48MP main camera + 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP depth camera. The photos come out to be good and provide great details in the photos.
The device has a 4500mAh battery with support for Vivo’s 22.5W Dual Engine fast charging. The price starts at Rs.14999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. So overall the Vivo Z1x seems to be a very good buy considering its specs and you can surely choose it.
8. Realme X:
This is another smartphone from Realme which came with a full-screen display with AMOLED technology. Here the front camera has a pop-out module (No notch). It also houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device runs on Snapdragon 710 which provides good performance and gaming. It runs on ColorOS built on top of Android 9 Pie and will be updated to Android 10 very soon. There are only two cameras to the back: 48MP main camera + 5MP depth sensor. The photos come out to be good in detail but compare to others it misses out on the ultrawide camera.
The device has a 4000mAh battery with support for 20W VOOC charging. The price starts at Rs.16999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage making it slightly expensive as the newer Realme XT and the X2 have somewhat better specifications and provide better value compared to the Realme X but still if you want a full-screen display, then the Realme X is a good option to choose.
9. Xiaomi POCO F1:
Coming to the POCO F1, it been a very long time since Xiaomi launched the POCO F1 in the market in 2018. This smartphone received massive respect in the mobile industry and was nominated as the Phone of the Year in 2018. The device sports a 6.41 inches full HD+ display with a wider notch on top. There is a back-mounted fingerprint scanner that is accurate and fast.
Since the device is more than a year old, so the build quality doesn’t feel premium as it has a plastic body. But when it comes to gaming and performance, the POCO F1 is the undisputed winner compared to all other smartphones in this range. There is a Snapdragon 845 doing duty on this device which was seen on many flagship smartphones that cost twice or thrice as the POCO F1. Coming to the software, the device runs on MIUI 11 built on top of Android 9 Pie and will be soon updated to Android 10.
Coming to cameras, there are two cameras: 12MP main camera + 5MP depth sensor. The photos come out to be good but fall short in front of 48MP/64MP images which nowadays many rivals offer but still it provides good photos. Now coming to battery life, the POCO F1 sports a 4000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The device was launched at Rs.21999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage in 2018 a but now it is priced at Rs.14999 which makes it a good deal to buy. If you want a pure gaming smartphone, then put your money on the POCO F1.
10. Samsung Galaxy A50s:
Samsung Galaxy A50 was launched in 2018 which was a very good device as it brought an in-display fingerprint scanner and AMOLED screen under Rs.20000. Then Samsung came up with a slightly upgraded Galaxy A50s with a slightly better chipset and design. The cameras were changed in the Galaxy A50s. The device sports a 6.4 inches full HD+ SuperAMOLED display which is very bright and under the display sits an in-display fingerprint scanner.
It is power by Exynos 9611( a slight upgrade over the Exynos 9610 in the Galaxy A50). Its performance is good but in heavy games, the chipset struggles slightly whereas all small games run smoothly. The device runs on OneUI built on top of Android 9 Pie and will be soon upgraded to Android 10. Coming to cameras, here we get: 48MP main camera + 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP depth sensor. The photos come out to be good but the ultrawide camera needs some improvement.

11. Oppo K3:
This device from Oppo is a stellar deal with good specifications but it has been a long time since its launch in the market. Like the Realme X, the Oppo K3 has a full-screen display 6.5 inches AMOLED screen and houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. The screen is very bright and the fingerprint scanner works well. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 710 like the Realme X and coming to overall performance, it is good and all heavy games run smoothly on the device. There are two cameras to the back: 16MP main camera + 2MP depth sensor. The photos come out good but lack in details compared to 48MP/64MP cameras nowadays. The ColorOS 6 runs at the heart built on top of Android 9 Pie and will be soon upgraded to Android 10.
The device has a 3765mAh battery which supports 20W VOOC charging which is faster. The price of the Oppo K3 starts at Rs.15999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage making a good deal to consider. If cameras aren’t your highest priority, then all other aspects will be enough to choose the Oppo K3.
